In this phase, which we generally don't encounter many difficulties with, the most critical aspect to pay attention to is ensuring the metal flows correctly into our model. Often, for standard rings or other models, attaching them to the casting tree at a 45-degree angle is sufficient. The key factor in treeing is to ensure that the attached wax does not touch the flask.
If there are gem-set pieces, the stones should be oriented facing downwards. The wax should not be positioned too close to the rubber sprue. Placing them too closely might cause the upper part of the investment to crack.
It's crucial to ensure that the runners of the wax pieces attached to the tree are firmly secured. If the runners aren't properly attached, the wax pieces we've attached might fall during the investment process, potentially causing the investment to crack.
Delicate items should be oriented with their thin parts facing upwards. This is because these initial items should be cast under high pressure.
However, our wax attachment method might appear differently when considering models that extend along the horizontal axis, like chains. If a base layer is used beneath the model, unlike what we do with our other models, here, it's sufficient to attach the base layer directly to the main body without separating it from the model.
The invested flask should be vacuumed, and any air voids within it must be removed. Additionally, the investment should be allowed to cool down fully by letting it sit at room temperature for at least four hours.
